About Us

The Omer Yembe foundation is a 501c3 charitable entity created and registered in the State of Texas in 2015. Our mission is to improve the health, education and wellbeing of the people most in need. Our initial focus will be on the people of the in and around the village of Mbot, Cameroon.

The Omer Yembe Foundation was started in 2015, by Dr. Enaka Yembe, a Family Medicine Physician living in the United States of America. This was done in honor of our late father Dr. Omer Weyi Yembe who worked relentlessly to bring hope for the future to his people in Mbot.

About Dr. Omer Weyi Yembe

Dr. Yembe was born in Mbot, Cameroon on the 29th of January 1939. In 1953 he was admitted into St Joseph’s College Sasse and then went on to the University of Ibadan in Nigeria from which he graduated in 1965 with a B.A (Hons) in History Geography and Political Science. Also in 1965 he married his wife Mrs. Faustina Yembe.

A family man and a budding community icon, Dr Yembe served in multiple Cameroon government posts.
In 1976, he earned a Ford Foundation grant into the Columbia University in the City of New York, where he graduated with a masters and a PhD in record time - within the space of four years.

The Omer Yembe Memorial Medical Center

We believe that quality healthcare is a fundamental human right.

The facility was opened on June 1st 2015. It is is an outpatient department, which includes a patient reception area and 2 consultation rooms. Patients who present to the clinic are evaluated by the nurse on duty and treatment administered or dispensed to the patient based on a availability.

Multiple treatment algorithms and nurse – led treatment and community health education protocols with incentives have been set up.

Primary care physicians and specialists in the US form a group of physician volunteers for virtual consultation.
